Rhaya'a Relanah

Background

The son of a pirate, Rhaya'a would have taken the same path, if his stomach would deign to hold at sea. Bahamut unleashing his fury on his mother's ship wiped out whatever lingering chance there was of ever taking that path.For years, Rhaya'a was best known as a petty conman who would attempt to swindle adventurers passing through Limsa Lominsa, selling "keystones" to ruins that never existed. After a few too many run-ins with adventurers who knew better, and the increasing pressure of the Admiral for Limsa Lominsa to shed its old ways, the city stopped being a place he could stay.Fate, or something like it, saw him wash up in Ishgard. There he ran into an adventurer he had once tried to con. Despite their rocky beginning, she saw fit to not only offer him a place to stay, but to help introduce him to the Athenaeum Astrologicum, home of Astromancy in Eorzea. As it turns out, he has a talent for it.

Recently

Following a series of events relating to Nym that nearly killed him, Rhaya'a has taken up healing work for coin, presently trailing after a band of adventurers rather deeper in over their heads with a voidsent than any of them would like to admit. To no surprise at all, fighting monstrosities from the void is harder on a body than swindling drunks in a tavern. So far, the issue has seen him lose his star globe, reawaken the problem he first found in Nym, and threaten to do a fair bit worse.Yet as if in defiance of his usual luck, a professor at the Studium in Sharlayan, despite having only just met him, was inspired to write him a letter of recommendation on the spot. He applied on little more than a whim, and was accepted. Whether he intends to tell anyone how much that actually means to him remains to be seen.

Resident of Ishgard: For now. As a Keeper of the Moon with a permanent grudge against the cold, Rhaya'a tends to stick out in the city. He can often be found haunting the Brume, the Forgotten Knight, or the Jeweled Crozier. At least, until his courses in Sharlayan begin.Limsa Native: Anyone with knowledge of Limsa Lominsa will likely recognize his accent the moment he opens his mouth. For all his skill as a conman (which isn't much), faking accents is not one of them.Fortune Teller: Rhaya'a reads cards in taverns and markets for whatever coin people will part with. Some of the readings are honest. Some aren't. Which it is depends as much on the stars as his mood and your coin.Astrologian: A student of the Athenaeum Astrologicum with a reputation for relying on raw aether and stubbornness in equal measure. He's further along than his prickly self-assessment would have one believe: a letter of recommendation and an accepted application to the Studium in Sharlayan say as much, even if he won't.**An Emerald Ring: He wears one, always, and reacts poorly to questions about it. Simple curiosity is one thing. Know what it does or why it's got a peculiar aetheric signature is another matter entirely. Often covered by gloves.Conman: Many an adventurer who has passed through Limsa Lominsa has a tale about a grinning Miqo'te with a "keystone to ancient ruins." He has mostly given that up, but sometimes people are just asking for it.Healer for Hire: Currently trailing a band of adventurers, for better or for worse. It turns out the work pays much better than swindling people, and gets you stabbed about as often. Rhaya'a is always keeping an ear to the ground for work to be had.Strange Aether: Rare is the ability to see the color of one's soul, but there are ways. Those with this ability may notice that his has more colors than it ought to.
